NFL Takeaways: Week 7

Photo from USA Today

Thank goodness we had two Monday Night Football games again!

Wouldn’t want to possibly have more than 3 games on during the 4 P.M. window on Sundays!

Ugh.

Here’s what we learned in week 7.

Broncos defeat Saints 33-10

The Saints stink.

They couldn’t do a thing, and let the Broncos run for over 200 yards against them.

Crazy how quickly it’s all fallen apart.

Jaguars defeat Patriots 32-16

This was sort of a win win for everyone!

The Jags got it together to get their 2nd win of the season, which is huge moving forward, while the Patriots got another great game from Drake Maye.

The Patriots aren’t a good team.

Seeing their QB of the future perform well is a good thing.

Bills defeat Titans 34-10

There was a brief moment where it looked like the Titans switch to Mason Rudolph was going to be genius, as the Titans led 10-0.

And then it all went terribly wrong and the Bills completely stomped on them.

C’est la vie.

Seahawks defeat Falcons 34-14

For the first time since week 1, the Seahawks won the turnover battle.

Coincidentally, they also won easily.

The offense is good.

The defense just needs to get there, as it did on Sunday.

Bengals defeat Browns 21-14

The Browns got better once Deshaun Watson ruptured his Achilles.

And no. I don’t feel bad that it happened.

Sue me.

Packers defeat Texans 24-22

On the one hand, the Texans only lost by 2 on the road, despite CJ Stroud having one of his worst games as a starter.

On the other hand, CJ Stroud had another poor game without Nico Collins.

Something to keep an eye on.

Colts defeat Dolphins 16-10

The Colts got the win, mainly because the Dolphins offense still can’t do a thing without Tua, but man alive.

The Anthony Richardson experience is painful.

Everything just looks harder, which isn’t what you want when you have a freak athlete at QB.

Lions defeat Vikings 31-29

The Lions did their best to try to give this game to the Vikings, in typical Lions fashion, but Jared Goff’s insanely good season continued to give the Lions the win on the road, and full control of the NFC North.

These Lions are different, man.

They’re just different.

Eagles defeat Giants 28-3

Saquon Barkley having a huge game against the Giants couldn’t have been more obvious unless it was a Disney movie.

It was destined to happen.

Rams defeat Raiders 20-15

The Rams had this game in total control, and almost blew it.

If they did, they might as well have just forfeited the rest of the season.

It would’ve been that bad of a loss.

Commanders defeat Panthers 40-7

Good team clobbers bad team.

Chiefs defeat 49ers 28-18

Andy Reid is now 5-0 against Kyle Shanahan in head to head matchups, and that is because Andy Reid is a great head coach, whereas Kyle Shanahan is a great offensive mind who has continuously struggled with game management and in game adjustments.

I don’t know how many more examples we need of it before we realize that Kyle Shanahan, while an offensive genius, is not that same level of head coach.

Steelers defeat Jets 37-15

The Jets fired Robert Saleh, something all of mainstream sports media said was a brilliant decision because he is a bad head coach, even though the Jets defense was outstanding.

Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich then removed Nathaniel Hackett, too, someone who was clearly holding back Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense.

They even traded for Davante Adams, too! One of Aaron Rodgers best friends and favorite targets.

They’ve now played two games since then, and in both of those games the offense still stinks, and the defense is significantly worse.

I wonder why they’re still not good…

We may never know.

Oh, sorry. We do know. Aaron Rodgers told us.

It’s the media’s fault, of course.

Ravens defeat Buccaneers 41-31

That game was about as bad as it could possibly be for the Bucs.

They obviously lost, and now Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are out for a long, long while.

They’re still very much in the hunt for the NFC South, but that’s a brutal game.

As for the Ravens, I said last year Lamar Jackson was playing better than his first MVP season.

This year, he’s playing even better than that.

Cardinals defeat Chargers 17-15

I did not watch this game, because I think two Monday Night Football games are stupid, and this one was also hidden behind a paywall, which is also stupid.

Stop doing this, NFL.

Nobody likes it.
