NFL Takeaways: Week 7

Any given Sunday, huh?

This week sure showed that.

Let’s dive right into it.

Jaguars defeat Saints 31-24

The Saints, who were stuck in mediocrity post Drew Brees, decided Derek Carr was the logical next step.

They are now, once again, stuck in mediocrty!

Weird!

Bears defeat Raiders 30-12

A Division II undrafted rookie making his first start and he looked better than any Josh McDaniels coached QB all year.

The Raiders have to fire him. It’s over.

Browns defeat Colts 39-38

I do not like blaming games on refs.

A lot of things happen in a game, so bad calls shouldn’t be the one single thing that determines it.

But this was different.

A horrible call took away the Colts game sealing touchdown, and then ANOTHER horrible call gave the Browns an extra down at the end of the game.

And of course, they used that extra down to score and win the game.

Just a very, very bad job.

And the refs weren’t done this week!

Patriots defeat Bills 29-25

The Bills have played 7 games this year.

In 3 of them, Josh Allen has played like an MVP.

In 4 of them, he’s been terrible in terms of taking care of the ball.

The Bills can’t win titles like that. It’s far too inconsistent.

Giants defeat Commanders 14-7

Tyrod played well!

Not a great sign for Daniel Jones…

Falcons defeat Buccaneers 16-13

I don’t have a ton to say about this game.

It was a football game between two average teams.

It was average.

Ravens defeat Lions 38-6

I knew on the 2nd series of the game that the Lions had no chance.

When Lamar Jackson plays like he did Sunday, there is not a single team in the NFL that can beat the Ravens.

The issue so far this year is that we don’t see that consistency each week.

I still need to see some consistency before I deem the Ravens the favorites in the AFC, but it’s close!

Seahawks defeat Cardinals 20-10

The Seahawks are showing signs of a very good defense while having a breakout year from an undrafted free agent wide receiver.

It’s like we restarted the Pete Carroll era!

Steelers defeat Rams 24-17

Why don’t the Steelers build the whole offense out of the 4th quarter?

And to bring up terrible refs earlier, the spot the refs gave Kenny Pickett on a 4th down QB sneak was atrocious.

Do I think it would have mattered? No. I think the Steelers would have held off regardless.

But we were still robbed of a chance to find out.

Broncos defeat Packers 19-17

That’s now back to back weeks the Broncos defense is looking improved.

Possibly turning a corner?

Or maybe Jordan Love just isn’t the guy.

I guess we’ll find out as the year goes on.

Chiefs defeat Chargers 31-17

The Chiefs passing offense has woken up.

Uh oh.

Eagles defeat Dolphins 31-17

When Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown have a connection like they did Sunday night, the Eagles are hard to beat.

Still, the Dolphins had a couple of dropped TDs that hurt their chances in this game as well.

I don’t think we learned a lot about these teams either way. They’re both very good.

And one more bad refs thing, the Eagles got called for 0 penalties in this game.

It didn’t affect the outcome, but that’s weird, right?

Vikings defeat 49ers 22-17

Another one score game for the Vikings!

As for the Niners, that’s back to back weeks they needed Purdy to have a game leading drive.

Last week, he should have thrown an interception on the first play.

Last night, he threw two interceptions on two drives. He also is 4th in the NFL in turnover worthy plays.

But on the other hand, he was very good for 3 quarters.

I don’t know.

It’s hard to figure this whole thing out!
