MLB Playoff Takeaways: World Series

And then, there were 5.

Because of the Texas Rangers World Series win, there are only 5 teams who have not won the World Series.

So how did this happen?

Let’s dive right in.

Luck Ran Out

I said after the Championship Series that the Diamondbacks had a great strategy.

Adding veteran talent to young talent.

Despite that, the overall talent was never anything special.

After all, they only won 84 games this year.

Still, the talent gelled together and got hot at the perfect time.

They breezed through the Brewers, Dodgers and Phillies to get here.

And then it just…stopped.

Sewald looked hittable again. Corbin Carroll and Alek Thomas weren’t getting the huge hits they had previously.

It was just unfortunate timing, but still a great season overall from a team with a young core.

But here’s what I missed going into this series.

The Rangers did the same thing.

But better.

The Way To Win

The Rangers young core is just like the Diamondbacks young core.

They’re a little older, sure, but guys like Jonah Heim, Josh Jung, Ezequiel Duran and others are new to the Major League level.

But where the Diamondbacks got Sewald, the Rangers got Nathan Eovaldi.

Where the Diamondbacks got Evan Longoria, the Rangers got Corey Seager.

The Rangers added veteran, proven, star talent to a young core.

The end result was a World Series title.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers, and congratulations for going 11-0 on the road in the postseason. Unfathomable.

If the Rangers played you at your home ballpark, you went home sad every single game.

Unreal.
