Five Formula 1 Winners & Losers: Brazilian Grand Prix
The last triple header of the season is done and dusted, and you won’t believe who won!
Let’s get into this weeks winners and losers.
Losers
5. Mercedes
Mercedes, even last year with a horrid season for them, at least had a great race at Brazil with George Russell getting his first win in Formula 1.
This year, it was less good.
Russell got a DNF, while Lewis Hamilton got it to 8th and that was it.
Mercedes either need massive changes, or Lewis Hamilton needs to explore other options if he desperately wants that 8th championship.
Because this ain’t working.
4. Alfa Romeo
Alfa needed a good result if they wanted to catch Alpha Tauri and Williams in the constructors standings.
A double DNF isn’t going to do them any good.
3. Alexander Albon
Arguably no driver has been in better form than Alex Albon (if you ignore Max Verstappen who is a cheat code this year), so it was a big shame to see him wind up crashing on the first lap through no fault of his own.
2. Kevin Magnussen
I said it before, and I’ll say it again.
Haas hates when you crash their car.
So I don’t imagine they’ll be thrilled with Kevin Magnussen crashing into his teammate Nico Hulkenberg, before crashing his own car and ending his race.
Magnussen has really struggled this year, and Haas sits last in the standings.
1. Charles Leclerc
Ferrari is ruining this man’s spirits.
His car had a hydraulic failure before the race even started, sending Leclerc into the wall and ending his race before it even began.
Poor guy.
Winners
5. Yuki Tsunoda
Yuki is here to remind people that Ricciardo ain’t the only talented Alpha Tauri, getting another 9th place finish and securing more points for the Italian team to keep them 8th.
4. Lando Norris
Another absolutely excellent drive resulting in a 2nd place finish for Lando Norris.
He’s becoming a superstar in this sport.
Now, he just needs a win.
3. Fernando Alonso
Alonso, after a fantastic start to the season, hadn’t stood on the podium since Zandvoort.
He finally got another one at Brazil, and got it in thrilling fashion, with a photo finish with Sergio Perez.
It was thrilling racing, as only Sao Paulo can give us.
2. Max Verstappen
This might be shocking to hear, but Max Verstappen broke another record!
He had already broken his own record for most wins in a season, but now he has the record for most percentage of wins in a season, surpassing Alberto Ascari who set the record in 1952.
This has been the most dominant season ever.
It’s unbelievable.
1. Lance Stroll
There is nobody who needed a weekend like this more than Lance Stroll.
I myself questioned if Stroll even wanted to keep racing. That’s how bad his performances were.
But Stroll had a great weekend, qualifying 4th and finishing the race 5th.
There’s talent in there. He’s shown that many times over.
If he can keep that drive to make it happen, he can be great.
