One Formula 1 Winner & Big Loser: Madrid Grand Prix

Formula 1 officially made its return in Madrid this weekend, so I figured I’d change up the format a bit.

Instead of five, there’s only one winner and one loser from this weekends race in Spain.

1. Kimi Antonelli

Kimi Antonelli won the race.

Congratulations to him.

Loser

What are we doing?

When this track was announced, everyone with a brain said it was likely this was going to be a mess of a race.

Sure enough, it was an absolute disaster, and by far the most boring race of the season.

There were less overtakes in the Madrid Grand Prix than there were in the Monaco Grand Prix.

That’s right.

Monaco.

The track everyone can’t stand these days because there’s no way to pass anyone.

There were more overtakes in THAT race than there were in the Madrid Grand Prix.

We’re losing classic tracks for this.

Actual races on actual race tracks that have history and are fun, all so that we can continue to race in more city centers, and for what?

Money?

In the richest sport in the world?

It’s just a ridiculous joke, and everyone involved with the decision should feel bad for themselves.
