NFL Week 7 Takeaways

I’ll start off by saying this.

I was at the Ravens-Browns game on Sunday. So a lot of the 1 P.M. games I only saw highlights. So I may not have super in depth takeaways.

But I’ll pretend that I do.

Cardinals defeat Saints 42-34

Everyone kept making jokes that Kyler would have a terrible game because the new Call of Duty came out, which is ridiculous.

First of all, the game wasn’t available until the next day. Second of all, it was only the campaign.

Kyler strikes me as a strictly multiplayer kind of guy, which is the wrong take for Call of Duty.

Another great campaign, though. Very enjoyable.

Bengals defeat Falcons 35-17

That was much more like what we expected from the Bengals this year.

Cowboys defeat Lions 24-6

Dak started slow, which is expected after a finger injury.

But he still played well, and the Cowboys moved to 5-2 with an easy win over the Lions.

There is no quarterback controversy in Dallas.

Commanders defeat Packers 23-21

There IS one in Washington!

Not so much because Taylor Heinicke is good, but because Carson Wentz is really, really bad.

Much like the Packers.

Such a shame. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy than Aaron Rodgers.

Titans defeat Colts 19-10

Right when I start to think the Colts might actually be good, it turns out they’re not.

I don’t get it.

Panthers defeat Buccaneers 21-3

I don’t like Bruce Arians.

I think he’s a clown.

But with the Bucs struggles this year despite Brady playing pretty well, it’s clear he was crucial to the operation in Tampa.

I hate giving him credit, so I’ll stop it there.

Giants defeat Jaguars 23-17

The Giants are 6-1 with Daniel Jones in Brian Daboll’s first year, which is good!

But I have some doubts they’re truly as good as their 6-1 record shows.

Which sets up perfectly for them to destroy my Seahawks this Sunday.

Ravens defeat Browns 23-20

The Ravens had a 10 point fourth quarter lead and didn’t blow it!

But boy, they really tried to.

More concerning than anything, it was a lifeless offensive day for Baltimore.

Something to keep an eye on, especially with fans growing concern with offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

Jets defeat Broncos 16-9

Two teams played a game where neither coach trusted their QB.

This was a predictable result.

Raiders defeat Texans 38-20

The Texans last year were bad, but they played really hard under David Culley. Surprisingly hard.

But they fired him.

And now they have Lovie Smith and are bad and don’t really play that hard.

Strange move!

Seahawks defeat Chargers 37-23

Is there a reason many NFL fans and analysts exalted Justin Herbert to elite status so early in his career?

He’s good, and he has all the tools to be elite, but very rarely have I seen it the past two years.

It’s weird to me he continuously gets praised while guys like Tua and Jalen Hurts (before this season) had so many doubters.

But I have some guesses as to why…

Chiefs defeat 49ers 44-23

The Niners just aren’t good enough with Jimmy G at QB and this many injuries.

But it’s ok, because they traded for a very good but often injured running back in Christian McCaffery.

That’ll help!

Dolphins defeat Steelers 16-10

This game featured a QB returning from concussion against a QB making his second ever start.

You saw the result.

Well, you might have.

I fell asleep at halftime.

Bears defeat Patriots 33-14

This may have been the first time all year the Bears had an offensive gameplan specifically designed to suit Justin Fields strengths, and it was the best they’ve looked all year.

Weird.

Was It A Good Week?

Good Games: Giants vs Jaguars, Ravens vs Browns

Bad Games: Jets vs Broncos, Colts vs Titans, Steelers vs Dolphins

Bad week, but it’s still a 4-3 lead for good weeks this year.
