Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 8

Last week was an amazing weekend of college football.

This one was not quite as good.

But that’s ok! Still always fun!

5. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee beat up on UT Martin.

That’s not impressive.

What is impressive is their scheduling.

They scheduled their FCS opponent the week after Alabama, knowing that if they did beat Bama for the first time in forever, they would avoid a letdown loss the next week.

Genius moves.

4. South Carolina Gamecocks

Uhhh.

South Carolina is 5-2.

They started very slow this year, but back to back wins over Kentucky and A&M not only have SC at 5-2, but in the top 25.

3. Maryland Terrapins

Also having a very good year is Maryland!

The Terps are 6-2, and really should be 7-1 if they had beaten Purdue which they easily could have done.

Much like South Carolina, an 8-4 year looks like it’s on the cards.

2. TCU Horned Frogs

Is TCU a serious playoff contender this year?

They sure look like it.

In a wide open Big 12, it sure looks like they’re the best team, and their offense has done a complete 180 from last year.

Sonny Dykes does not need a year 0.

Good for the Frogs.

1. Oregon Ducks

That may have been the best game Bo Nix has played in his career.

Oregon welcomed undefeated UCLA into Eugene, and kicked the doors off of them.

That horrible loss to Georgia to start the season may be enough to keep them out of the playoff, but I’d go as far to say Oregon is pretty clearly the best team in the PAC 12 right now.

Take that, USC!
