NFL Week 11 Takeaways

It took 11 weeks, but there’s more than just one or two NFC teams who have joined the party into becoming Super Bowl contending teams.

Neat!

Here’s what we learned in week 11.

Titans defeat Packers 27-17

It’s time.

The season is over.

Bench Rodgers while acknowledging you’ll trade him in the offseason, and see what you have in Jordan Love.

It’s time to prepare for the future.

Also, the Titans always deserve more respect than they get.

Ravens defeat Panthers 13-3

This game was bad and we’re all worse for having seen it.

Falcons defeat Bears 27-24

Another good game for Justin Fields, another loss for the Bears.

Baby steps, I guess?

Bills defeat Browns 31-23

A good bounce back game from the Bills offense after a few tough weeks, but the defense probably isn’t thrilled about their performance.

Still, at least the offense looks normal.

Eagles defeat Colts 17-16

This was an interesting game from the Eagles.

They won, sure, but they seemed to show an odd lack of faith in Jalen Hurts throwing the ball late and continued to run.

Maybe they simply felt that’s where the Colts were weakest? I’m not sure.

But it almost cost them terribly.

Patriots defeat Jets 10-3

It’s one thing for Zach Wilson to play terribly.

It’s another thing for him to never acknowledge the loss was on his performance.

It’s immature, it breaks up the locker room in the middle of a playoff hunt, and it’s another reminded to NFL teams to stop being wowed by college QBs who can throw the ball really far.

Malik Willis, anyone?

Saints defeat Rams 27-20

The Rams won one Super Bowl and decided to be horrendously bad.

I’m sure they think it’s worth it, but it’s not a good way for a city like Los Angeles to keep caring.

Lions defeat Giants 31-18

I said earlier this year that I like Dan Campbell and what he’s attempting to do in Detroit, but it needs to turn into wins.

Well, it’s finally turning into wins.

That’s very, very good to see.

That, and the fact that they have the Rams draft pick this season…

Commanders defeat Texans 23-10

The Commanders just keep on winning since switching to Taylor Heinicke from Carson Wentz.

Weird!

Raiders defeat Broncos 22-16

The problems in Denver keep showing themselves.

First, it’s Russell Wilson throwing it away on 3rd down instead of taking a sack to make sure the clock runs. Then later on it’s Nathaniel Hackett calling a timeout, inexplicably giving the Raiders another late shot at the endzone.

We can go back and forth figuring out who’s at fault, but the one clear thing is that this partnership does not work.

Cowboys defeat Vikings 40-6

Holy. Cow.

A lot of people clowned on the Cowboys for once again falling short late to Aaron Rodgers, but boy oh boy did they answer.

This was a demolition, and for me at least proved the Cowboys have a very legitimate chance to win the NFC this year.

That defense is unreal.

Bengals defeat Steelers 37-30

The Bengals, after a really tough start, are 6-4 and heating up.

They could be sneaky in the postseason just like they were a year ago.

Chiefs defeat Chargers 30-27

Late in the game, the Chargers had under a minute left and 3 timeouts to get into field goal range.

First down, Justin Herbert got sacked and they used a timeout.

Second down, still with two timeouts, Herbert threw into double coverage which led to an interception which cost the Chargers the game.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again.

The talent Herbert has is unquestionable, but the consistency makes me concerned.

There was simply no need for that throw in that situation.

49ers defeat Cardinals 38-10

Boy, the Cardinals sure are bad!

Probably time to make a change at coach there, as well.

Was it a good week?

Good games: Bears vs Falcons, Chiefs vs Chargers

Bad games: Panthers vs Ravens, Jets vs Patriots, 49ers vs Cardinals

It was a bad week :(

Still, the good weeks do lead 7-4 and we had a good stretch. We were due for a stinker.
