NFL Takeaways: Week 9
Moving isn’t fun.
Because of moving, I missed most of every single game.
But we ride!
Jets defeat Texans 21-13
The Texans are insanely injured right now, and the offensive line is a massive, massive problem.
So the Jets got a win they desperately needed, but let’s not freak out over it.
Bills defeat Dolphins 30-27
Ravens defeat Broncos 41-10
Chargers defeat Browns 27-10
Panthers defeat Saints 23-22
No, this isn’t a typo. I put all of these together on purpose.
Divisional games are weird!
The Bills are much better than the Dolphins, yet needed a 61 yard field goal at home to win.
The Saints, I think at least, are better than the Panthers, but the Panthers got the win.
Last week, the lifeless Browns beat the red hot Ravens, only to get beat down by the Chargers while the Ravens slaughtered the Broncos.
There’s no need to overreact over divisional matchups.
Stuff gets weird.
Bengals defeat Raiders 41-24
This was a much needed confidence boost for a Bengals offense that seemed to be really struggling for weeks on end before they come to Baltimore on Thursday.
Commanders defeat Giants 27-22
I saw literally none of this game.
But the better team won so, I guess I missed nothing interesting?
Falcons defeat Cowboys 27-21
The Cowboys aren’t good, their quarterback is now hurt for the next few weeks, and they’re still giving away draft picks for wide receivers.
I have no idea what they’re doing.
Titans defeat Patriots 20-17
Drake Maye can ball.
The Patriots may have lost, but Drake Maye can ball.
Cardinals defeat Bears 29-9
The Bears were feeling good and heading towards a 5-2 record, before one Hail Mary.
Since then, Tyrique Stevenson pulled himself out of practice because he found out he wouldn’t be starting, D.J. Moore walked off the field mid play, and didn’t deny that head coach Matt Eberflus has lost the locker room, and Caleb Williams got hurt late in the game despite being down by a ton.
One play changed the vibes of this season dramatically.
Eagles defeat Jaguars 28-23
The Eagles are red hot, and Jalen Hurts is playing at the same level he did in the 2022-2023 season.
Definitely something to keep an eye out for.
Lions defeat Packers 24-14
This is the Lions 3rd straight win at Lambeau Field.
That seems absolutely crazy to say.
Rams defeat Seahawks 26-20
I know football fans love the skill guys.
Quarterbacks. Running backs. Wide receivers.
Let the Seahawks be a lesson, however, that you can’t ignore the offensive line.
Because holy mackerel that offensive line is horrendous.
Vikings defeat Colts 21-13
An excellent second half for Sam Darnold got the Vikes back on track after two straight losses.
He, and the team, really needed that.
Chiefs defeat Buccaneers 30-24
You go for two.
You always go for two when you have a chance to beat Patrick Mahomes.
I’m not saying you will win in the end, even if you do get the two point conversion.
We’ve seen Mahomes come back with less time before.
But you at least have to try.
