NFL Takeaways: Week 8

Football happened.

Let’s discuss, shall we?

Packers defeat Cardinals 24-21

Aaron Rodgers is great. We all know Aaron Rodgers is great.

And the Packers had the perfect game plan on Thursday night. Short passes for chunk yardage to use clock and keep the ball away from Kyler.

Rodgers did a great job and the Pack got the win.

^See that up there? That was a summary of the game.

Notice how I didn’t claim this game proved Aaron Rodgers is the greatest quarterback to ever grace planet Earth?

Sometimes, it’s ok for a legendary QB to have a good game where nothing very interesting happens, he executes a game plan well and the team wins.

Not everything needs to go viral.

Panthers defeat Falcons 19-13

Someone save Matt Ryan, please.

Bills defeat Dolphins 26-11

The Bills are a better team than the Dolphins.

Deshaun Watson won’t just magically fix that, Miami.

49ers defeat Bears 33-22

Remember when the Bears were 13-3 a few years ago?

That was weird.

Steelers defeat Browns 15-10

Jarvis Landry fumbled one first down and dropped another, both inside the 20 yard line, leading to a Browns loss.

And now we’re spending Tuesday talking about the relationship between Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr being “beyond repair.”

Crazy how stuff like that happens.

Eagles defeat Lions 44-6

So, the Eagles are losing to teams they are worse than but destroying teams they are better than.

It sounds like they’re exactly what we expect them to be and should stop freaking out about Jalen Hurts.

Titans defeat Colts 34-31

Carson Wentz is dominant when the Colts run the play where he underthrows his receiver by 7 yards and forces a pass interference.

Other than that? Nothing special.

Jets defeat Bengals 34-31

Football fans can be so over reactionary, can’t they?

That being said Mike White is the greatest quarterback of all time and the savior of the New York Jets.

Rams defeat Texans 38-22

Nothing is interesting about this game except the Texans finding a way to backdoor cover and lose people lots of money.

Amazing stuff, Houston.

Patriots defeat Chargers 27-24

Bill Belichick feasts on young quarterbacks.

Herbert is no different.

Broncos defeat Washington 17-10

Holy cow this game was awful.

Do not watch highlights. Save yourself the time.

Seahawks defeat Jaguars 31-7

May not look like an interesting score, but Geno led the Hawks to a blowout over a team they should blow out.

You can only beat the team in front of you.

Well done, Geno. Here’s hoping this leads to other opportunities.

Saints defeat Buccaneers 36-27

There’s something about the Saints in the regular season that the Bucs just can not deal with.

Of course, they beat them in the playoffs last year on their way to a Super Bowl, so I’m sure they don’t care much if they lose regular season games.

Cowboys defeat Vikings 20-16

I’m prepared to say it.

The Cowboys are officially legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Kirk Cousins is having a good year offensively, and the defense shut him down to help out their backup QB making his first ever start.

This team is legit.

Chiefs defeat Giants 20-17

Patrick Mahomes still isn’t playing well.

But hey, if the Chiefs are winning games while he works at fixing it, it’s not a big deal.
