NFL Takeaways: Week 17

Photo from The Detroit News

We’re down to the final week of the NFL season, and there is still a LOT to be figured out.

But, we did learn a little bit more.

Here’s what happened in week 17.

Browns defeat Jets 37-20

Joe Flacco is playing similarly to his 2012 postseason run in terms of yards and touchdowns.

If he gets a handle on the turnovers, the Browns are legitimate Super Bowl threats.

That’s a weird thing to say.

Cowboys defeat Lions 20-19

The NFL was not fixing it for the Cowboys.

The NFL was not rigging it against the Lions.

NFL referees just really suck, and it’s been a problem all year long.

Bills defeat Patriots 27-21

The Patriots are not a bad team.

They just need a quarterback who does not continuously give the other team the ball.

It killed them once again.

Bears defeat Falcons 37-17

The Bears fans want Fields, and the Bears fans should keep Fields.

Do the right thing, Chicago.

Take Marvin Harrison Jr.

Colts defeat Raiders 23-20

Shane Steichen should be coach of the year.

The fact that the Colts are still in the playoff hunt, despite losing Anthony Richardson and being terrible last year, is remarkable.

Texans defeat Titans 26-3

Or maybe Demeco Ryans should be coach of the year, because the Texans are ALSO in the playoff hunt despite being terrible last year and having a rookie QB.

Either way, the Colts and Texans have been remarkable stories this year.

Rams defeat Giants 26-25

Tyrod missed Barkley on a wide open 2 point conversion attempt, I know.

But he got them down the field for a game winning field goal attempt, and then the Giants had some just ridiculous play calling that kept it as a 52 yard field goal instead of getting it closer.

The result? Shanked it.

Game over.

Has to be better from Daboll.

Cardinals defeat Eagles 35-31

AJ Brown is pissed at coaches.

The fans are pissed at the coaches.

The Eagles have an issue, and maybe it’ll get fixed come playoff time, but it’s no longer something to ignore.

Saints defeat Buccaneers 23-13

You just never know what team you’re going to get any given week in the NFC South.

I can’t figure out this division at all.

49ers defeat Commanders 27-10

Good team beats bad team.

This one isn’t exactly rocket science.

Jaguars defeat Panthers 26-0

This was already a bad year for the Panthers, so may as well make it worse by having your owner throw beer at a fan!

Ravens defeat Dolphins 56-19

This game was super fun.

Back and forth. High powered offenses.

And then the Ravens changed into an extra gear.

It was lights out, after that.

Broncos defeat Chargers 16-9

It was a tumultuous week in Denver, with the controversial benching of Russell Wilson and controversial reasons surrounding it, so it’s funny that they played the exact same game they’ve played all year.

Nothing special offensively, but actual good defense, so they won.

Steelers defeat Seahawks 30-23

The Steelers offense, which has been lethargic all year long, had 10 explosive plays against the Seahawks on Sunday.

If there was ever a stat to show Clint Hurtt’s time in Seattle should be over, it’s that one.

But lo and behold, another winning season for Mike Tomlin.

Insane consistency.

Chiefs defeat Bengals 25-17

There’s still something off about the Chiefs.

This game changed nothing.

Packers defeat Vikings 33-10

The Packers, with their “bust” at QB and expected horrible season post Aaron Rodgers, are one win away from the playoffs again while the Jets are the talk of the town for everything despite football.

Hey, you wanted Aaron Rodgers, you got him!

I think the Packers may be happy that chapter is over…
