Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 9
Photo by Chris Day from The Commercial Appeal
This week didn’t have the big upsets of previous weeks, but it still gave us lots of entertaining moments and some surprising results.
Here is the top 5 for this week in college football.
5. Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State dominated in state rival Kansas this week to make their streak over Kansas 17 straight wins.
Kansas State’s win streak over Kansas is ready to go to prom and applying for colleges.
Insane streak.
4. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Wake is kind of a hard job to be successful at in football.
They’ve only won 9 games or more 3 times this century.
But Jake Dickert, in year one at the helm, is 5-2 with a big win over SMU.
There’s still five games remaining, and there’s no guarantee whatsoever that Wake gets to nine wins.
But they only need one more for a bowl, and that’s a great year one after back to back 4-8 seasons.
3. Houston Cougars
Did you guys know Houston was 7-1?
Cause Houston is 7-1.
Willie Fritz has always been a damn good football coach, and this is proving to be a damn good hire from Houston.
2. Kent State Golden Flashes
Kent State has won 3 games this year!
3!!!
They’ve tripled their win total from the past two years combined with a home win over Bowling Green.
Mark Carney deserves the full time job if he wants it.
1. Memphis Tigers
Memphis vs USF was a battle for who might be getting that G5 playoff spot, and while USF probably had the better game overall on the stat sheet, it was Memphis who got the victory and took a big step forward to a possible playoff appearance.
Then again, this is Memphis.
Hopefully, they can avoid a misstep.
