Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 7

This was a relatively weak slate of college football games, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t excitement.

Alright, there still wasn’t much excitement.

Still, I was able to find a top 5 for this week.

5. Auburn Tigers

For the first time in what seems like forever, I think Auburn is actually underrated as opposed to overrated.

Bo Nix looks much more improved than previous years, and while they are far from where Auburn fans think they should be, they’re a sneaky good team.

An upset win over a tough Arkansas team proves that.

4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Pokes were getting schooled by Texas. It looked like a typical Mike Gundy OK State team that had the talent but lost a game they easily could have won.

And then they absolutely dominated the 4th quarter, outscoring Texas 16-0 to win by 8.

Texas may want to work on holding leads considering the past two weeks…

3. Purdue Boilermakers

The second most wins as an unranked team vs the number 2 team in the country is 4.

The most? It’s now 9, thanks to Purdue’s upset win over Iowa.

That’s right. An unranked Purdue has beaten the number 2 team in the country 9 times.

Choo choo. That train ain’t stopping.

2. UConn Huskies

UCONN. DIDN’T. LOSE!

All it took was playing a division two school to get them their first win, but a win is a win!

And this may sound sarcastic, but it is truly deserved. That team has worked very hard.

1. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks

It’s not often a Fun Belt team ends up here.

Let alone ULM, who has had some putrid years recently.

But that all changed Saturday night when the Warhawks were a 32.5 point underdog to Liberty and pulled off an incredible upset victory.

For a team who has been through rough years, that could be the changing of the tides.

(And how crazy is it that a win over LIBERTY could be a turning point?)
