Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 5

Photo from Duke Athletics

I was in Philly on Saturday, so it was difficult to watch football.

But that’s what YouTube is for!

Here is the top 5 from week 5.

5. Rutgers Scarlet Knights/Indiana Hoosiers

Rutgers is 4-0!

Indiana is 5-0!

That rules!

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

An insanely impressive win by the Tide, who took it to Georgia and smacked them in the mouth.

And then they gave the game back to Georgia.

But a phenomenal play by 17 year old (!!!!!) Ryan Williams got the Tide the lead, and the win.

Kalen DeBoer looks just fine replacing Nick Saban.

3. Colorado Buffaloes

Last week, I gave Colorado credit because they won a game they normally would’ve lost.

Even though they beat a bad Baylor team, it was worth mentioning.

But Saturday, they went to Orlando and stomped on UCF.

It was a hell of a performance.

Colorado might be good?

Maybe?

2. Duke Blue Devils

Boy oh boy. Manny Diaz is living on the edge in Durham…

Duke may be 5-0, but they have been very close to losses to teams like Northwestern and UConn.

But read that sentence again.

Duke is 5-0.

The 5th win, a comeback over rival North Carolina that might just be the beginning of the end of Mack Brown’s tenure there.

Never apologize for winning. Even if it is ugly sometimes.

1. Kentucky Wildcats

When Kentucky got THUMPED by South Carolina, I thought it was because they were just bad.

Well, it turns out South Carolina is pretty good, and so is Kentucky, after the Wildcats almost upset Georgia, before pulling off the upset Saturday against Ole Miss.

The defense has been absolutely fantastic, and if it keeps up, it’s going to win Kentucky a lot of football games.
