Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 5

September is done.

Time to find out who’s legit, and who the September Heisman winner of 2023 was.

Here is this weeks top 5.

5. Colorado Buffaloes

I know, I know.

You’re sick of the Buffs coverage.

I kind of am too.

But we have to give them respect here, despite the lost.

After getting absolutely clobbered by Oregon last week, the Buffs faced a 34-7 deficit to USC and it looked like they were going to get absolutely schooled again.

But they fought back. They did not let themselves get embarrassed again.

It’s worthy to note, if you ask me.

4. Clemson Tigers

Clemson beating Syracuse isn’t exactly a headline that pops eyeballs, but realistically speaking, Cuse has given Clemson tons of problems in the past.

So, Clemson completely taking care of business against the Orange was a very good sign going forward for the Tigers.

3. Ole Miss Rebels

A big win for the Rebels, even if they’re docked slightly due to some horrendous defense from LSU.

Still, the Kiffin offense that was stymied against Alabama was on full display in Oxford Saturday night, coming back from down 9 with 7 minutes left to get the upset win.

Ole Miss MIGHT just mess around and win the SEC West this year…

2. Bowling Green Falcons

Any time you get paid a bunch of money to go play a power 5 school and you end up winning, that’s a good thing.

Doing it by absolutely beating down your opponent? Even better.

Pretty rough look for Georgia Tech though.

A year that started so promising is looking worse and worse.

1. Baylor Bears

UCF was taking it to Baylor, not only about to secure their first Big 12 win, but essentially put the final nail in the Dave Aranda coffin.

But Baylor didn’t roll over and die, storming back from down 35-7 and scoring 26 fourth quarter points to get the win.

It’s a massive, and quite possibly season saving victory for the Bears.
