Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 11

What a week.

What a season, really.

It’d be more fun if the playoff was 12 teams instead of 4, but I digress.

Here is this weeks top 5.

5. West Virginia Mountaineers

Is this WVU team good? Not really.

Is the Oklahoma team they beat good? Not really.

But, they DID beat them!

For the first time in Big 12 play, the West Virginia Mountaineers beat the Oklahoma Sooners.

And you can call me biased if you want, but you bet your ass I’m going to celebrate it.

Even if I do still think a change needs to be made at head coach, which now seems likely given the news today that athletic director Shane Lyons has been fired.

4. Washington Huskies

It’s been an amazing first year for Kalen DeBoer, and what a better way to finish it off than going into Eugene, Oregon and ruining your rivals chances at the college football playoff.

It was an awesome game, very back and forth, and was exactly what Washington needed to put themselves back in good light for west coast recruits.

3. Arizona Wildcats

And right after UW ruined Oregon’s chances at the playoff, Arizona ruined UCLA’s.

The Wildcats upsetting UCLA meant they will miss out on the college football playoff as well.

The only hope the PAC 12 has now is USC, and who do they play this week?

Crosstown and pissed off rival UCLA.

God I love how the PAC 12 eats itself…

2. UConn Huskies

UConn is bowl eligible.

UConn! Is bowl eligible!

It took one year for Jim Mora Jr to make the Huskies go bowling once again, and they did it in an upset victory over Liberty as well.

An amazing first season, and any other week would surely put them 1st on my list.

1. Vanderbilt Commodores

But this was not any other week.

Vandy, for the first time since 2019, won an SEC game.

The Commodores upset #24 Kentucky, and first year head coach Clark Lea can build off this win in hopes to grow Vandy back from being “horrendous” to “actually pretty decent!”
