NFL Week 9 Takeaways

This season is weird.

It’s good, but it’s weird.

Nobody is quite sure what to expect, so all we can do is take it week by week.

Here’s what we learned week 9.

Eagles defeat Texans 29-17

I, and I’m assuming most of Philadelphia was as well, was watching the World Series instead of this game.

But the result isn’t necessarily surprising.

The Eagles are good. The Texans are not.

Chargers defeat Falcons 20-17

When you have two teams that just love to lose games in ridiculous ways, this 4th quarter chaos is the end result.

What a dumb, dumb game from two teams I adore.

Dolphins defeat Bears 35-32

The Bears lost, but this is the third straight week the Bears have started to formulate an offense around Justin Fields game and had great success doing so.

Earlier this year, I thought Fields was running out of time.

It feels now like he’s finding his strive.

And where would the Dolphins be this year if Tua didn’t get hurt…

Bengals defeat Panthers 42-21

This game was over in the blink of an eye.

The Bengals imposed their dominance, and never looked back.

Lions defeat Packers 15-9

A few weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers said those who are underperforming on Green Bay need to have some reps cut.

So I’m excited to see how Jordan Love looks soon, because Rodgers is stinking up the joint.

Patriots defeat Colts 26-3

Ya know, with the Colts constant struggles this season followed by Jim Irsay going ballistic with the coaching staff, I’m not sure why older Baltimore fans have so much ill will towards the Colts.

Could you imagine Jim Irsay as the owner in Baltimore? They did this city a favor.

Jets defeat Bills 20-17

Josh Allen was terrible.

Like, really really bad.

And yet they were still one dropped 70 yard bomb from having a chance to win.

The Jets almost have everything, but Zach Wilson isn’t the guy.

Vikings defeat Commanders 20-17

It makes sense that I said last week Carson Wentz would have thrown a soul crushing interception that Taylor Heinicke wouldn’t, and then Heinicke awards my belief in him by throwing a soul crushing interception leading the Commanders to lose.

Oops.

Jaguars defeat Raiders 27-20

I figured the Raiders, even with Davante Adams, would regress after so many one score wins last year.

I didn’t think it’d be THIS much.

I’m starting to think Josh McDaniels may not be so good at this head coaching thing.

Seahawks defeat Cardinals 31-21

For the second week in a row, the Seahawks gifted their opponent a touchdown.

For the second week in a row, the Seahawks won by double digits.

This team is good.

Against all odds, they’re damn good.

Buccaneers defeat Rams 16-13

Do not let people enjoying an LA team against Tom Brady with a last second touchdown fool you into thinking this was a good game.

This game was awful, and we are all worse for having watching it.

Chiefs defeat Titans 20-17

I will be waiting for your apologies regarding Ryan Tannehill now that we see what the Titans offense with Malik Willis looks like.

You can mail them to me or leave it as a comment. I don’t care.

But I’ll be waiting.

Ravens defeat Saints 27-13

The Saints aren’t very good, are they?

Was This A Good Week?

Good Games: Chargers vs Falcons, Dolphins vs Bears, Jets vs Bills, Vikings vs Commanders

Bad Games: Lions vs Packers, Rams vs Buccaneers

It was a good week!

The good weeks of this topsy, turvy NFL season now lead 6-3 over the bad weeks.
