NFL Week 8 Takeaways

Get ready!

It’s time for me to tell you what you saw with your own eyes!

Ravens defeat Buccaneers 27-22

The Ravens gave up lots of 10 point leads.

Last week, they almost did but held on to win.

And now this week they did a little bit better.

Baby steps!

Broncos defeat Jaguars 21-17

The Jags were on track to run away with this game, and Trevor Lawrence threw a completely boneheaded interception on the goal line which kept the Broncos around.

Vintage Russ at the end of the game took care of the rest.

Trevor Lawrence has the talent. That’s obvious.

He just needs to stop playing hero ball.

Titans defeat Texans 17-10

No Ryan Tannehill meant it was fairly obvious the Titans were going to lean on Derrick Henry.

The Texans knew that, and it didn’t matter. He still ran for over 200 yards.

He’s a workhorse.

Falcons defeat Panthers 37-34

This game ruled.

A game with two offenses led by P.J. Walker and Marcus Mariota was the best game of the entire weekend.

That’s what the NFL is all about.

Also, the Falcons are leading the NFC South.

Surely that won’t go horribly wrong!

Cowboys defeat Bears 49-29

Remember when people thought there was actually a competition between Cooper Rush and Dak Prescott?

Speaking of that, remember when people thought Carson Wentz was better than Dak?

What a wild time.

Dolphins defeat Lions 31-27

Tua puts up good stats.

Tua also wins.

No matter what metric you determine is good for QBs, he does both.

Can we just acknowledge that he’s good, and stop freaking out that he can’t throw the ball 70 yards?

Vikings defeat Cardinals 34-26

The Cardinals hung in there against a good Vikings team on the road.

If I’m them, I feel pretty good about the rest of the season.

Performances like that against lesser teams will end up as wins.

Saints defeat Raiders 24-0

I watched RedZone on Sunday (while keeping an eye on the MLS Cup Playoffs) and I’m not sure I saw a single update from this game.

It might as well have not existed.

Patriots defeat Jets 22-17

Remember earlier when I mentioned we should stop freaking out about people who can’t throw the ball 70 yards?

Well, Zach Wilson can do that. Which is why he was drafted 2nd overall.

Unfortunately, he’s bad at every other thing.

Tragic.

Eagles defeat Steelers 35-13

You know what team I thought of while watching this?

The Tennessee Titans.

Because the Titans decided to trade A.J. Brown to the Eagles in order to get Trey Burks, a guy whose pro comp was A.J. Brown.

And then I thought of this classic Family Guy clip which sums it all up perfectly.

Commanders defeat Colts 17-16

The Commanders aren’t Super Bowl contenders with Taylor Heinicke, but I can tell you one thing (and I promise I don’t just want to pile on. It’s just a thought I had).

If the Commanders had started Carson Wentz on Sunday, they would not have won that game.

That was a game destined for Wentz doing too much and throwing a game losing interception.

I’ve seen it too many times.

49ers defeat Rams 31-14

Man, what is wrong with the Rams?

This is not the same offense from a year ago.

Maybe it’s the line. Maybe it’s Stafford.

Maybe it’s because I traded for Cam Akers in fantasy and the Rams decided to bench him and not trade him so karma is getting them back for screwing me over.

Who’s to say?

Seahawks defeat Giants 27-13

The Giants offense came into this game hot, and the only touchdown they scored was when the Seahawks gave them the ball on their own 3 yard line.

The Hawks offense is clicking, and the defense is playing great.

They won’t win a Super Bowl, but it might just be time to think of them as legitimate playoff contenders.

Bills defeat Packers 27-13

Another game where the Bills didn’t play their best against a talented team, another comfortable win.

This team is real good.

Browns defeat Bengals 32-13

I don’t know if the Bengals are actually good or not.

I also fell asleep at halftime.

Whoops.

Was it a good week?

Good games: Panthers vs Falcons, Dolphins vs Lions, Cardinals vs Vikings

Bad games: Raiders vs Saints, Bengals vs Browns

It was a good week!

And after a couple of snoozers, the good weeks move to a 5-3 lead.
