NFL Week 6 Takeaways

This week started with a dud and it ended with a dud.

Did the games in the middle make it all worth it?

Let’s find out!

Commanders defeat Bears 12-7

This game had less points than the putrid 12-9 Broncos vs Colts game a week ago, but this game was still better than that one.

You know why?

Because this time, there was a different football game on that I could watch instead. West Virginia beat Baylor 43-40 it was an amazing back and forth game that ended with my Mountaineers winning.

But yeah.

I saw basically none of this garbage, and I’m happy about that.

Stop putting the Bears on primetime.

Falcons defeat 49ers 28-14

The Niners should be the runaway favorites in the NFC.

They are by far the most talented team in the NFC, and the rest of the league is struggling outside of Philly and Minnesota.

But defensive injuries and the typical up and down play from Jimmy G means they sit at 3-3.

It’s not going well, and quite frankly I’m not sure it’ll get better.

How about those Falcons, though? They’re fun!

Also, can not be understated how great this uniform matchup was. Flat out iconic.

Patriots defeat Browns 38-15

I think we kind of expected the Browns offense would struggle with Jacoby Brissett, but the defense?

Good heavens.

It’s really, really bad right now.

Jets defeat Packers 27-10

In all the time I’ve written these takeaways, I have clowned on the Jets.

And for good reason. They were a tire fire.

But they’re no longer a tire fire.

They’re 4-2, they look very solid defensively, and it’s really impressive that they’re performing so well despite Zach Wilson not impressing at all.

They’re on the right path, and it’s genuinely really good to see.

Colts defeat Jaguars 34-27

I genuinely have no idea if the Colts are good or not.

Genuinely no clue.

Giants defeat Ravens 24-20

John Harbaugh is a good coach.

Which is why I think the Ravens continuing to give up 10 point leads is not a trend that will keep happening as the season goes along.

But…it’s not promising so far!

Vikings defeat Dolphins 24-16

Tough couple of weeks for the people who said Tua isn’t important for the Dolphins and that any QB could succeed in Mike McDaniel’s offense.

The Dolphins desperately need Tua back. I just hope they don’t rush him back.

Bengals defeat Saints 30-26

That’s more what we expect to see from Joe Burrow.

Steelers defeat Buccaneers 20-18

Tom Brady retired, unretired, is likely going to get divorced because of it and has loads of other off the field drama, all to lose to Mitch Trubisky and this Steelers team?

Buddy, you should’ve stayed retired!

Rams defeat Panthers 24-10

This Rams offense is broken.

The defense is relatively solid, but the offense needs some help, and quick.

Seahawks defeat Cardinals 19-9

The Cardinals gave Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray extensions this offseason, and the offense looks lethargic.

The Seahawks gave up 45 points to Jared Goff and 39 points to Andy Dalton/Taysom Hill on back to back weeks, and the Cardinals can only get a field goal against that same defense?

The only touchdown the Cards got was a botched punt recovery.

It’s bleak in Arizona.

Bills defeat Chiefs 24-20

The Tom Brady Patriots vs the Peyton Manning Colts was a game to watch every single season.

This is the new Patriots vs Colts.

I will stop what I’m doing and watch these two teams face off for as long as Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are there, and I bet we see this matchup again come January.

Eagles defeat Cowboys 26-17

If I had to pick what I thought was the best team in the NFC, I’d say the Eagles.

If I had to pick a second best team, I’d say the Cowboys.

The fact that Dallas is not only 4-2, but hung in there on the road against a very good Eagles team with Cooper Rush at the helm instead of Dak Prescott shows that this Cowboys team has some fight in them.

Some losses can be considered impressive, and I was impressed by Dallas on Sunday night.

Chargers defeat Broncos 19-16

Blue and orange.

Boring football.

On primetime television far too much despite everyone begging them to stop.

The Broncos are just the Bears with preseason expectations.

Was It A Good Week?

Good Games: Giants vs Ravens, Colts vs Jaguars, Bengals vs Saints, Vikings vs Dolphins, Bills vs Chiefs

Bad Games: Commanders vs Bears, Broncos vs Chargers

The good games take it, meaning we’re at 4 good weeks as opposed to 2 bad weeks.

But man, the bad games this week were baaaaad…
