NFL Takeaways: Week 8

I don’t know how to open this.

Rams defeat Vikings 30-20

That win was huge for the Rams.

Not just because of the record, which still has them in great position to win the NFC West, but because it prevented any more trade talks for Matt Stafford and Cooper Kupp.

I’m calling it now.

Nobody will want to play the Rams come playoff time.

Patriots defeat Jets 25-22

The Jets suck, man.

We spent the last two offseasons hyping them up so much, and they just suck.

I’m done hearing about them.

Eagles defeat Bengals 37-17

The Bengals defense looked great recently, mainly because it was playing putrid offenses.

First real offense they face in a few weeks, and it’s back to the old ways.

The more concerning thing is that the offense has seemed to go quiet.

They won’t win much of anything if that’s the case.

Packers defeat Jaguars 30-27

Malik Willis comes in for the injured Jordan Love and saves the day.

Maybe the Packers are just a quarterback factory.

Lions defeat Titans 52-14

As a Seahawks fan, this game felt exactly like in 2012 when the Seahawks destroyed the Cardinals 58-0 while not doing pretty much anything offensively.

And then they went on a dominant tear.

These Lions are scary, y’all.

Falcons defeat Buccaneers 31-26

Baker Mayfield is still slinging it, but man he’s turning the ball over a lot more since Mike Evans got hurt.

Can’t win that way.

Cardinals defeat Dolphins 28-27

I still have no idea if the Cardinals are good or not.

Just no clue.

Browns defeat Ravens 29-24

Rashod Bateman lost a deep pass in the sun and dropped it, Kyle Hamilton dropped a gift wrapped interception, and the Ravens lost to the lowly Browns.

It’s a divisional game.

Weird stuff happens in these.

I wouldn’t read much into it.

Texans defeat Colts 23-20

Anthony Richardson, outside of a few highlight plays, has not looked like a good quarterback in his entire college or NFL career.

But he has all the physical tools to succeed!

And even with that, he still pulled himself out of the game because he was tired.

So maybe he doesn’t even have those.

I’m calling bust already.

Chargers defeat Saints 26-8

Remember those two weeks to start the year where the Saints seemed like a wagon?

That was fun.

Ah well.

Bills defeat Seahawks 31-10

While the game was 17-3 Bills, the Seahawks had 3 solid drives.

Drive 1: Got inside the 10, snap goes over Geno’s head, settle for a field goal.

Drive 2: Got inside the 5, goes for it on 4th down, center steps on Geno’s foot and destroys the play.

Drive 3: Screen pass blows up and deflected pass is intercepted.

You can’t make those mistakes and succeed against any NFL team, let alone a good one like the Bills.

Commanders defeat Bears 18-15

The Commanders deserved to win this game, and then deserved to lose it, and then won it anyway.

They defy odds and logic.

A new era.

Broncos defeat Panthers 28-14

The Panthers have no talent and are not well coached.

Done deal.

Chiefs defeat Raiders 27-20

Patrick Mahomes is not playing well overall, but is making clutch plays when it matters, and the defense looks dominant.

We know how this ends.

I do appreciate talking heads trying to pretend like it won’t end this way, though.

Give the folks some hope.

49ers defeat Cowboys 30-24

The 49ers, because of injuries, did not look very impressive outside of the 3rd quarter on Sunday night, and the Cowboys STILL couldn’t beat them.

It’s a lost year.

Steelers defeat Giants 26-18

The Steelers play great defense, and they let Russell Wilson play mistake free, run focused football.

Congratulations, Russ.

You’re back on the 2010s Seahawks.
