NFL Takeaways: Week 6

Are there any elite teams in the NFL?
It’s going to be the Chiefs again, isn’t it?
What else is new?
Giants defeat Eagles 34-17
The vibes in Philly are, and frankly always have been bad under Nick Sirianni.
This was a tough loss, but division losses happen. The Ravens have lost to the Browns. The Chiefs have lost to the Broncos.
The Giants beating the Eagles isn’t really that big of a deal.
Or, it wouldn’t be, but the vibes are just rotten.
It’s so bizarre to me.
But I like what the Giants have in Jaxson Dart. That’s for sure.
He’s got moxy.
Broncos defeat Jets 13-11
Making the British public watch that Jets offensive performance should be considered an international incident.
Colts defeat Cardinals 31-27
The Cardinals had a really good offensive performance from backup QB Jacoby Brissett, but it’s another tough, close loss for Arizona.
How long does this keep happening before it’s decided that’s just who they are?
Chargers defeat Dolphins 29-27
The Dolphins defense stinks. Tua is calling out players and the leadership group.
Tear the whole thing down, Miami. It’s time to start over.
Patriots defeat Saints 25-19
The Saints play hard!
That’s all you can really ask for.
They just need more talent before we can officially judge Kellen Moore’s tenure in New Orleans.
Seahawks defeat Jaguars 20-12
The Seahawks were missing three starting members of their secondary, so they needed a dominant performance up front to help mitigate that.
They got it, hitting Lawrence 17 times on Sunday and sacking him 7 times.
The Jags offense never had a chance to get comfortable.
Steelers defeat Browns 23-9
Dillon Gabriel threw 52 times in this game.
I know the Browns run game wasn’t extremely effective, but it was a 10 point game in the 4th quarter. It’s not like they needed to abandon it entirely.
But they decided it was smarter to have their third round rookie, making his second ever start, throw 52 times.
Brilliant stuff, Browns.
Panthers defeat Cowboys 30-27
Credit to the Panthers for getting the win, but boy oh boy.
This Cowboys defense is a total disaster.
It’s brutal to watch, and it’s ruining a fantastic season from Dak Prescott.
Rams defeat Ravens 17-3
The Rams offense really struggled on Sunday, and I feel it went unnoticed because the Ravens never had a threat to get back into the game with Cooper Rush at QB.
But they only had one long sustained drive result in a touchdown, against a very poor and injured Ravens defense.
Something to keep an eye on.
Raiders defeat Titans 20-10
The Titans firing Mike Vrabel was dumb when it happened, and is looking dumber and dumber as time goes on.
The Patriots are good in year one of Vrabel, and the Titans have been a disgusting disaster with Brian Callahan at QB, and he’s now fired.
Bad, bad move.
Packers defeat Bengals 27-18
A win is a win, but the Pack really struggled to pull away from a bad Bengals team.
They’re still getting wins, but man. It’s not exactly easy for them.
Buccaneers defeat 49ers 30-19
Because of Emeks Egbuka’s injury, the Bucs were down their top 3 wide receivers against a solid Niners defense (that did, unfortunately, lose Fred Warner earlier in the game and now for the season).
That didn’t stop Baker Mayfield from making big play after big play to get the victory and move the Bucs to 5-1.
The Bucs are legitimately great, and Baker has to be the MVP favorite right now.
Chiefs defeat Lions 30-17
0-2 start. Didn’t look good against the Giants. Tough game against the Jags.
It’s inevitable.
The Chiefs are the Chiefs.
It’s why they were my Super Bowl pick in the preseason.
You can only see it so many times before you realize it’s foolish to pick anyone else.
Falcons defeat Bills 24-14
The Bills are too Josh Allen reliant.
I know that sounds crazy, because talking heads over and over will say that the quarterback is the most important position, and Josh Allen is the reigning MVP, but think about past Super Bowl Champions.
I have seen the Chiefs win when Mahomes isn’t at his best.
I’ve seen the Eagles win when Hurts isn’t at his best.
Patriots and Brady. Broncos and Manning. Seahawks and Wilson.
The Bills can’t win if Allen isn’t at his best.
And it’s been that way for years.
Until I see it happen, I can’t think of them as legitimate contenders.
Bears defeat Commanders 25-24
Football is actually a pretty easy sport to understand.
Sure, there’s complex schemes and play designs and coverages and all that, but the basics of football can be really simple.
Take care of the football.
The Commanders turned the ball over three times. The Bears never turned it over.
It cost Washington the game.
Simple as that.
