NFL Takeaways: Week 16

I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and happy holidays and I hope you didn’t waste your time watching a boring NFL season.

But let’s talk about it anyway.

Titans defeat 49ers 20-17

Every now and then, people start to believe Jimmy Garoppolo really is good.

And right on cue, he screws up a game to hurt the Niners chances.

It’s time for the Niners to move on.

Packers defeat Browns 24-22

Baker Mayfield played horribly, and the Browns lost by 2 to a top team in the league.

If the Browns win their last two games, the Ravens lose to the Rams and the Bengals lose to the Chiefs, the Browns win the division.

This is still a talented team, and that’s not an unlikely scenario.

The ceiling isn’t falling.

Colts defeat Cardinals 22-16

Here’s my issue with Carson Wentz.

He’s very talented. We saw that with the last throw he made to ice the game for the Colts over the Cardinals.

It was an incredibly accurate throw across his body while getting hit. A showing of how talented Wentz really is.

And everyone is talking about it.

But nobody is talking about how truly bad he was before that.

I’m a big Wentz critic, but I never questioned his talent. I just need to see it consistently.

That hasn’t changed.

Falcons defeat Lions 20-16

The Falcons might be the worst potential playoff team I’ve watched.

Incredibly fitting for them.

Bengals defeat Ravens 41-21

If you’re a Ravens fan and you’re mad that Joe Burrow threw for over 500 yards against a depleted secondary, go outside and get some fresh air.

It’s good for you!

Football is just a game. Don’t worry about it too much.

Rams defeat Vikings 30-23

They did it!

The Vikings have tied the record for the most one score games in a season with 14.

That’s right. 14 of the 15 Vikings games have come down to one score.

They have two more chances to do it. I hope they pull it off.

Bills defeat Patriots 33-21

That was a great game for Josh Allen.

Not much to say other than that.

Jets defeat Jaguars 26-21

Folks, if you actually watched this game live you may need serious help.

Eagles defeat Giants 34-10

I didn’t see this game live but I follow lots of Philly fans on social media, and I saw that they were very upset.

So you can imagine my surprise when it turns out the Eagles destroyed a division rival at home.

Never change, Philly fans.

They’re just passionate!

Buccaneers defeat Panthers 32-6

Yeah, that’s about how I’d expect the Bucs to respond after an embarrassing loss last week.

Texans defeat Chargers 41-29

What?

Bears defeat Seahawks 25-24

The Seahawks defense? It’s bad.

Russell Wilson this year? Bad!

The results? 5-10 record.

One of those should have been good, if you ask me.

Chiefs defeat Steelers 36-10

We’re going to get a Chiefs-Bucs Super Bowl again, aren’t we?

Raiders defeat Broncos 17-13

Who cares?

Cowboys defeat Washington 56-14

Boy, you just hate to see a Dan Snyder team get clobbered on national TV against their biggest division rival, don’t ya?

Dolphins defeat Saints 20-3

Time for a rant.

Do you want to know why I don’t like the NFL? The fans and the media.

Now, this may make me sound like a boomer, but let me explain.

All night last night, I saw people saying it was plain as day that the Dolphins missed on Tua Tagovailoa and they needed to make a change.

He’s just not a franchise quarterback.

Tua has started 19 career games behind an atrocious offensive line, and had a good but not great game against the Saints defense.

The exact same Saints defense that just eight days ago shut out Tom friggin Brady and made him look like garbage.

Why do we do this?

Why do we just see one flash of a player, make a decision on who they are as a player and then use everything to prove that decision.

Here’s what people probably don’t know.

According to EPA+CPOE composite, Tua is having a better season than Dak Prescott, Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz and others.

He’s just barely behind some QB darlings in the media like Justin Herbert, Matt Stafford and MVP candidate Tom Brady.

Why do we still have this constant take every Dolphins game?
