NFL Takeaways: Week 14

Photo by Nick Wass from The Associated Press

It was the first weekend without a bunch of college football on.

That stinks!

But hey, the playoff push of the NFL season is a fine consolation prize.

Let’s dive into week 14.

Patriots defeat Steelers 21-18

Honestly?

This was a pretty fun game, all things considered!

Buccaneers defeat Falcons 29-25

Baker Mayfield is a good quarterback and I don’t care what people say.

Is he a hall of famer? Is he elite? No.

But he’s still good.

Put him in a system to thrive, and you’ll find success.

Bears defeat Lions 28-13

I’m going to give you a top tip, Bears.

Use the Panthers draft pick on Marvin Harrison Jr, and use your own on the best offensive lineman available.

Give Justin Fields another year with an even bolstered offense and see what happens.

You don’t need Caleb Williams. QB prospects are a dime a dozen.

If Fields still doesn’t work, there will be another QB prospect next year.

Bengals defeat Colts 34-14

Joe Burrow: System QB????

People are saying!

Well. I’m saying.

Because all QBs are system QBs.

Still, Jake Browning is showing he can play this game.

Some guys just need a chance.

Browns defeat Jaguars 31-27

Remember what I said about Baker Mayfield earlier?

Just bringing that up for no reason regarding the Browns and success in the right system.

Good for Joe Flacco, though.

He deserves it.

Saints defeat Panthers 28-6

The Panthers are a mess.

Just a total mess.

Jets defeat Texans 30-6

Maybe Zach Wilson just needed some more time and not have the New York media hounding him the entire time.

Or maybe this was just a flash in the pan.

I guess we’ll find out.

Ravens defeat Rams 37-31

This was a masterful performance from Lamar Jackson, and if he can play like that down the stretch, the Ravens should lock up the 1 seed in the AFC.

Vikings defeat Raiders 3-0

A college game ending 3-0? Hilarious. Funny. Enjoyable.

NFL games ending 3-0? It’s just sad.

49ers defeat Seahawks 28-16

The Seahawks under Pete Carroll have given up 500 yards or more 15 times in his 14 season tenure in Seattle.

10 of those times have been since 2020.

Might be somewhat of an issue!

Bills defeat Chiefs 20-17

The Chiefs wide receiver issues are really hurting the team, as proven by Toney’s offside blunder which cost the Chiefs the game.

However, that Toney touchdown was super cool and should’ve counted because cool stuff should just count.

These pesky “rules” keep ruining fun stuff.

Broncos defeat Chargers 24-7

The Broncos are, somehow, only one game behind the Chiefs in the AFC West.

The defensive turnaround for Sean Payton’s squad has been absolutely remarkable.

Cowboys defeat Eagles 33-13

Dak Prescott should be MVP favorite and the Cowboys are Super Bowl contenders.

Maybe.

I still don’t know if I can trust them long term.

Titans defeat Dolphins 28-27

The conversation around this game will be “Lol Dolphins” and “Lol Tua” because NFL fans and media have decided they don’t like Tua and that’s how they choose to discuss games outcomes, but the real conversation should be about Will Levis.

Down 14 on the road in primetime with 2 minutes left and he leads two perfect drives to get the victory.

The Titans may have their future at QB.

Giants defeat Packers 24-22

Tommy Devito!

Hell yeah!
