NFL Takeaways: Week 13

It’s contender or pretender season.

And we learned a whole darn lot this week.

Cowboys defeat Seahawks 41-35

Excellent games from two quarterbacks who everyone seems to say sucks.

I even saw people say Geno isn’t the answer for the Seahawks despite the game he had.

The theme of this week, and this season, honestly, is “I hate how we discuss QB play in the NFL.”

Cardinals defeat Steelers 24-10

This was not a fun game to watch, and it had the audacity to take forever because of two rain delays.

That is cruel and unusual punishment.

Colts defeat Titans 31-28

The Colts are 7-5! They’re actual playoff contenders!

Shane Steichen, take a bow.

Chargers defeat Patriots 6-0

The Patriots allowed 10 points to the Colts, 10 points to the Giants, and 6 points to the Chargers.

They lost all 3 games.

Absolutely amazing.

Lions defeat Saints 33-28

The Saints still have a shot at the playoffs, but they need to not dig themselves a 21-0 hole like they did against the Lions.

Analysis!

Falcons defeat Jets 13-8

I would say there has to be better options at QB in free agency for the Jets, but there’s no point.

Just pack it in for the rest of the year.

There’s no point.

Dolphins defeat Commanders 45-18

Tyreek Hill is a freak and should probably win MVP.

He won’t, because he isn’t a QB, but he should!

Texans defeat Broncos 22-17

The Broncos winning streak was due to great defense and Russell Wilson playing as a good game manager.

Which isn’t a bad thing! If that’s what they need him to do to win, that’s what they need.

But against Houston, Wilson threw 3 interceptions.

They lost by 5.

That’s what Russell Wilson is now.

It’s kind of a shame.

Buccaneers defeat Panthers 21-18

The Bucs are heading towards that very weird spot of “not bad enough to get great young players” but also “not good enough to be a true playoff contender.”

That’s a bad spot to be in.

Rams defeat Browns 36-19

The Browns win over the Ravens was a possibly season defining win, and then Deshaun Watson was announced to miss the rest of the season, and the wheels have fallen off completely.

Bummer, isn’t it?

49ers defeat Eagles 42-19

Brock Purdy is Thanos.

By himself? Fine. No big deal. Whatever.

With all the infinity stones? With Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams, Christian McCaffery, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle?

Unstoppable.

Packers defeat Chiefs 27-19

Jordan Love looks pretty good!

Maybe we needed to give the guy more time and more NFL reps before writing him off as a bust!

Again, I hate how the NFL media treats QBs.

Bengals defeat Jaguars 34-31

How about Jake Browning???

People thought the Bengals season was over (and it still might be) but he went into Jacksonville to face a tough Jaguars team and got his guys a win to keep their playoff hopes well and truly alive.

That’s pretty awesome, I gotta say.

The Jags, however, might be without Trevor Lawrence for some time.

Could be a big issue, especially with the Texans nipping on their heels.
