Five Formula 1 Winners & Losers: Dutch Grand Prix

Formula 1 is back from its summer break, and it begins with the last Dutch Grand Prix for the foreseeable future.
It will be missed, and it gave us one final decent race.
Here are the winners & losers from Holland.
Losers
5. Valtteri Bottas
It wasn’t supposed to be a good first season for Cadillac, but it has been a very, very tough first season for Valtteri Bottas.
He’s going to need better results the back half of this season.
4. Haas
A double DNF for the American outfit is probably not how they wanted to return from the summer break.
3. Williams
They weren’t fighting for points anyway, but Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon crashed into each other at the end of the race.
Rule of thumb for any new race fans out there.
You ideally don’t want to crash into your teammate…
2. Max Verstappen
His final home race (for the time being) and his first race after committing to Red Bull Racing until 2030, and he didn’t even make it a lap before crashing out of the race.
Tough end for the Dutch fans.
1. Lance Stroll
It’s time to move on to a different career, Lance.
Frankly, it was time years ago.
It’s just still time now.
Winners
5. George Russell
Good news!
George Russell didn’t lose any ground on his title rival Kimi Antonelli this weekend!
4. Kimi Antonelli
Bad news!
George Russell didn’t gain any ground on his title rival Kimi Antonelli this weekend!
3. Liam Lawson
Due to Isack Hadjar’s injury, Liam Lawson took over the second Red Bull car this weekend, and brought the car home in 7th.
Not a great result given Red Bull’s pedigree, but it’s still good!
2. Lando Norris
Back to back races, and back to back wins for the reigning world champion.
Norris is now less than 100 points behind Antonelli in the title fight, and the McLaren seems to be getting a lot quicker.
He’s not out of this year.
1. Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso got points!
The Aston Martin, far and away the slowest car on the grid for the first half of this season, got points!
I didn’t think that was possible this year outside of Monaco!
Things are truly turning around at Aston Martin.
