Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 8

Not a lot of great games on paper again, but the beauty of college football is that we still had some fun.

Here is this week’s top 5.

5. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

You, a fool, probably think that giving up 56 points to Army is actually a bad thing and signs of problems that Wake Forest may have,

I, an intellectual, realize that a final score of 70-56 is objectively very fun television for everyone involved for a game many probably wouldn’t pay attention to.

Shootouts are fun.

4. Illinois Fighting Illini

You know what else is fun? Games that are so disgustingly gross that it ends up being comical.

Georgia beating Clemson 10-7 at the beginning of the year was just sad.

Illinois beating Penn State 20-18 in 9 (!!!!!!) overtimes?

Hilarious.

3. UTSA Roadrunners

Don’t look now, but UTSA is undefeated and play 6-1 UTEP next week.

That’s going to be a blast.

2. Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State beating an undefeated Oklahoma State?

Where have I heard that before…?

Fun fact, the 2011 game is what led to the college football playoff.

I wonder what this one will lead to…

1. Appalachian State Mountaineers

Once upon a time (a few years ago), App State was the newly promoted FCS team that hit the ground running and made a big splash.

Now a days it’s Coastal Carolina who has that honor.

It was nice to see my fellow Mountaineer brothers give Coastal a lesson in who was here first.

Sometimes you gotta take your lumps.

Even if you wear sweet teal helmets while doing it.
