Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 12

If I’m not mistaken, I believe this is the penultimate top 5.

Unless I choose to make one during championship week. Which I might.

Whatever. That’s for future Brian to decide.

Here is this weeks top 5.

5. Florida State Seminoles

When you have a newer coach, you want to see some fight.

Florida State started the year terribly, but since then have shown tons of fight on route to two tough wins over Miami and Boston College.

They head to Gainesville next week to get back to a bowl, and that’s strong credit to Mike Norvell.

4. Missouri Tigers

Beating Florida? Eh, might not be that big of a deal considering they aren’t very good.

But beating Florida on a 2 point conversion in overtime forcing them to fire their coach before a big rivalry game? That’s worth a top 5 spot.

It’s also a good end to the season for a team that, frankly, isn’t very good.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes

Every college football fan sort of assumed Ohio State was the 2nd best team this season, even though they were ranked 4th.

Still, I thought the 20 point spread they had over Michigan State was way too high.

I was wrong, and I deserve to be made fun of.

Because this Ohio State team is insanely good right now, beat 7th ranked Michigan State 56-7, and realistically the only possible chance to beat Georgia for the national title.

That will be a fun game, if it happens.

2. UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA isn’t one of the top 4 teams in college football, and nobody thinks that despite their undefeated record.

But they are very fun, and everyone was watching intensely as they were trying to stave off upset alert against the UAB Blazers.

They did, thanks to a deflected touchdown catch in the final seconds of the game.

Meep meep, you beautiful Roadrunners.

1. Utah Utes

There are some college football fans who want a team in their conference to make the college football playoff because it gives their conference exposure and helps them succeed in the future.

Those people are fools, and I appreciate the Utah Utes for throwing that dream in the trash for the PAC-12 with a dominating win over Oregon.

Screw other conference teams. The only success that matters is your teams success.

Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to go get hyped up for a night game in Lawrence, Kansas so my beloved Mountaineers can possibly make a bowl game.
