Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 11
Photo by Nikki Boertman from The Associated Press
It’s kind of crazy there’s only three weeks left of college football, right?
It’s also kind of crazy that a lot of people can’t watch the games because Google and Disney are fighting still.
Buncha babies, I swear.
You guys have enough money!
Anyway, I digress.
Here is the top 5 from week 11.
5. Wisconsin Badgers
Last year, the Big Ten expanded to add other PAC-12 teams and, because of the massive amount of teams, got rid of divisions.
That means there is no longer the art form known as the Big Ten West.
But don’t worry! Wisconsin is keeping the memory of the Big Ten West alive!
The Badgers leading passer against Washington was their punter, who was 1 for 1 with 24 yards.
They had a total of 48 passing yards.
And it didn’t matter! They still won!
They actually won!
That, my friends, is Big Ten West football.
4. California Golden Bears
Cal has been weird this year.
They started hot. Then they trailed off and started to fall apart.
Then they go into Louisville and beat the Cardinals in overtime?
Who knows, man?
But that’s a good win!
3. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Wake was a mess for a few years after making the ACC title game in 2021, but first year coach Jake Dickert is going to have the Deacons going bowling in his first year there after a big upset win over Virginia in Charlottesville.
It also means that the ACC title game race is still absolutely confusing and nobody knows who will be playing in Charlotte in a month.
And that’s very funny to me.
2. Tulane Green Wave
After a brutal loss to UTSA, Tulane desperately needed a win against Memphis to keep their American Conference, and their playoff hopes, alive.
Jake Retzlaff led the way to give the Wave that win on Friday night, throwing for 3 touchdowns in a 38-32 win.
They’re still fighting, even though the fake college football fans on Twitter think a G5 team shouldn’t get a playoff spot.
But that’s neither here nor there.
1. UConn Huskies
I really don’t think it can be overstated the job that Jim Mora Jr. has done at UConn.
This was a program that was without a conference and, frankly, had to be considering getting rid of the football program entirely.
After all, they’ve only been an FBS program since 2000, and most of those years have been horrible.
Enter, Jim Mora Jr.
Mora came in 2022 and since then made bowls in two of three seasons, including a 9 win season a year ago.
Now, UConn sits at 7-3 and just got a huge home win over a good Duke Blue Devils team.
UConn actually has a football program with a pulse now.
It’s all thanks to their head coach.
