Brian’s College Football Top 5: Week 10

November is the best time of the year for college football.

You can wrap up in blankets because it’s cold, and watch some disgusting Big 10 game on at noon.

It’s the best time of the year.

Here’s the top 5 for week 10.

5. College Football Fans

Everyone pointed out, and rightfully so, that the committee was acting like a bunch of clowns for how purposely they were setting it up to leave out Cincy from the College Football playoff.

We pointed out things like Mississippi State being ranked 17th, or Minnesota being ranked 20th.

And what happened this weekend?

Both schools lost to unranked opponents.

It’s nice when the committee’s plans directly blow up in their face.

Though I am excited for the poll gymnastics they do to set it up tomorrow.

4. UTSA Roadrunners

Speaking of teams disrespected by the committee, UTSA was somehow unranked last week and decided to put all their energy into crushing the crap out of 6-2 UTEP.

If they aren’t ranked this time around, there is no good in the world.

Meep meep.

3. TCU Horned Frogs

In what can be described as a strange week for TCU after Gary Patterson’s abrupt departure, the Frogs responded with an upset win over their arch rival, the 12th ranked Baylor Bears.

It was TCU’s first win without Gary Patterson as head coach since the year 2000.

And what a win to get.

2. South Carolina Gamecocks

I thought about putting them 3 instead of 2, but if I did that I feel Griffin would get mad at me.

That’s right, Griffin. I know you’re reading this. And no, they’re not going to be 1. Just be happy they’re here.

Although, they do deserve to be here.

One year after a 2 win season (granted, it was a weird COVID year), the Gamecocks are now 5-4 and demolished Florida so badly that Todd Grantham, someone who seemingly was incapable of being fired by Dan Mullen, was fired.

They can clinch bowl eligibility next week against Missouri, and what a turnaround that would be for Shane Beamer.

1. Purdue Boilermakers

I did wonder if Purdue would actually upset Michigan State for a few reasons.

First, because Michigan State is well aware of the Boilermakers ability to ruin a season and second because Purdue likes to beat the 2nd ranked teams.

Michigan State was third. I thought they’d escape.

They didn’t escape.

You can’t escape.

Purdue Pete knows where you are, and he’s coming for you.
