2025 College Football Review: Independents & PAC 2

There are four teams in this group.

Two met expectations, one surpassed them, and one fell well short.

Biggest Surprise: UConn Huskies

A nine win season for UConn?

Jim Mora Jr., take a bow.

Biggest Disappointment: Oregon State Beavers

I feel bad for the two teams left in the PAC 2, as they were abandoned by their counterparts, so I don’t expect the world from them.

But man, 2-10 isn’t good enough for Oregon State.

They even lost to Sam Houston State!

Losses like that are flat out inexcusable.

What I Got Right

Jimmy Rogers and his South Dakota State transfers worked out well in Pullman en route to a 6-6 season.

It worked so well, in fact, that Rogers used this a springboard to Iowa State.

Ugh.

I just feel so bad for the PAC 2 schools…

What I Got Wrong

I said the Irish would be title contenders once again.

But, whether you agree with the committee or not, you can’t be a title contender if you don’t even make the playoff.

They had to take care of business in their two biggest games, and they didn’t.

Coach Of The Year: Jim Mora Jr.

Jim Mora Jr. showed up to UConn and just started winning.

I’m not surprised that he left UConn for a better job, but I am surprised that job was Colorado State.

Regardless, he left his mark in Stoors.

Player Of The Year: Jeremiyah Love

Maybe this is the cop out answer, but I feel like it’s pretty clear.

If you get nominated for the Heisman, you’re the player of the year.

Team Of The Year: UConn Huskies

I know Notre Dame won 10 games and had an argument for being a playoff team, but come on.

UConn football had won 9 games twice in their history, and now they’ve won 9 games in back to back seasons.

They even beat the ACC Champions!

Is UConn a football school?

Many are wondering.
